Diversity

Blue Williams is committed to fostering diversity in the legal profession and within our firm. Our diversity committee is dedicated to recruiting, developing, and retaining a diverse group of attorneys and staff, with the knowledge that a diverse team is a more effective team.

In addition, many of our attorneys are involved in outside associations committed to promoting diversity, such as the Louisiana Association of Black Women Attorneys, the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, and the Association of Women Attorneys. We actively recruit diverse attorneys interested in litigation. At Blue Williams, diverse attorneys are given mentorship as well as immediate and numerous opportunities to go to court, appear in depositions, and litigate, prepare, and attend trials. This ensures our diverse attorneys’ true integration in the firm and substantial direct contact with and access to clients, a goal that is fostered by Blue Williams’ Diversity Committee. Blue Williams’ diverse attorneys are given the opportunity to hone and showcase their skills and interests within the legal field.

In 2011 and again in 2015, Blue Williams sponsored the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Conclave on Diversity in the Legal Profession at the gold level. The purpose of the conclave was to encourage discussion among judges and attorneys about the importance of diversity within the legal profession and how to improve diversity within the profession in Louisiana. Our attorneys attended the conclave to be a part of this vital discussion and bring back actionable ideas to our own diversity committee.
