Jonathan S. Forester

Attorney Brief

Mr. Forester is a partner in the Metairie office and has been with the firm since 2009. His practice consists primarily of construction law and litigation, insurance law, federal and state workers’ compensation law, products liability, and admiralty/maritime law.

Education

Mr. Forester graduated from Louisiana State University College of Business earning a bachelor of science degree in 2004. In 2009, he received his Juris Doctorate and Graduate Diploma in Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU. He also studied at Université Jean Moulin III in Lyon, France. In law school, Mr. Forester received several academic and performance-based scholarships, was the President of the Moot Court Board as well as a Member of the Trial Advocacy Board. In his second year, his team placed first in the Tullis Moot Court Competition, at which he received the Best Brief Award. He was also a member of the National Moot Court team, which placed first at the regional competition, where he received the Best Oral Advocate Award.

Narrative

Mr. Forester represents contractors, owners, insurers, self-insureds and subcontractors in personal injury and complex property damage claims. Mr. Forester has represented clients in claims relating to commercial buildings, highways, bridges, and various other construction sites relating to contractual breaches, delay damages and construction defects including moisture intrusion, roof damage, structural defects, construction vibration damage, and fire or explosions. He represents and advises construction related entities and other businesses through contract negotiation and drafting, as well as and the filing of liens and recovery of funds owed pursuant to the Louisiana Private and Public Works Acts and federal Miller Act. Mr. Forester has also defended employers regarding claims brought by employees for compensation under state workers’ compensation laws and pursuant to the LHWCA. In addition, he was recently selected to the Federal Bar Association’s Younger Lawyers Division Board of Directors for 2016-17.

Awards and Recognition

Mr. Forester has been selected for three years (2014, 2015, and 2017) as a "Rising Star” in the field of Construction Litigation by Super Lawyers publication.

Bars, Courts, and Professional Affiliations

Mr. Forester is admitted to practice in all state courts in Louisiana.  He is also admitted to practice before the Eastern, Western and Middle Federal District Courts in Louisiana, as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, Federal Bar Association, New Orleans Bar association, Jefferson Bar Association. In addition, he was recently selected to the Federal Bar Association’s Younger Lawyers Division Board of Directors for 2016-17. Mr. Forester is also a member of Associated Builders and Contractors, and serves as a mentor to freshman business majors in Loyola College’s Executive Mentor Program.
