Giambrone and Pizzo Successfully Defend St. Tammany Neurosurgeon

September 23rd, 2013

Guice Giambrone and Steve Pizzo recently obtained a defense verdict on liability for a neurosurgeon sued in St. Tammany Parish. In this medical malpractice action, the plaintiff alleged that the defendant neurosurgeon breached the standard of care during surgery to repair a ruptured brain aneurysm, which left the plaintiff permanently paralyzed on the right side. After a four day trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the neurosurgeon, finding that the plaintiff failed to bear the burden of proving that the doctor committed malpractice.  If liability had been proven, damages were estimated in excess of $5,000,000.
