Attorney Brief

Mr. Mauterer joined Blue Williams in 2020 as Of Counsel in the Metairie office.  His practice consists of municipality and law enforcement agency defense, elected official (Ethics and Civil) defense, election litigation, commercial litigation, estate planning and successions, class action litigation, directors and officers defense litigation, personal injury (Plaintiff and Defense), construction litigation, and family law.  He represents clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout Louisiana and multi-district litigation. He has been a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association since 2000 and a member of the Texas state Bar since 2014.

Education

Mr. Mauterer earned his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of South Alabama in 1996.  He earned his juris doctorate degree from Southern University Law Center in 1999.  During law school he was a teaching assistant for criminal law and authored and published the article “Louisiana’s Shoot the Carjacker Law: A License to Kill or a Layman’s Explanation to Already Existing Homicide Justifications?”  26 Southern University Law Review 227

Narrative

Mr. Mauterer’s practice is expansive, representing the spectrum from individuals to governmental agencies.  He has also represented thousands of individuals in complex class actions and has had the privilege of being appointed by courts as class counsel in Oubre v. Louisina Citizens Fair Plan, 24th JDC, Docket No. 625,567, and Timothy G. Morales, et al., v. The Parish of Jefferson and Redflex Traffic Systems, Inc., 24th JDC, Docket No. 673-195, c/w Earl J. Falgoust, et al., v. The Parish of Jefferson and Redflex Traffic Systems, Inc., 24th JDC, Docket No. 691-768.  Mr. Mauterer has also represented a group of class action objectors in the national class action, Pollard v. Remington Arms, Co., LLC, et al. before the U.S. Western District of Missouri.

Awards and Recognition

Mr. Mauterer is a National Institute of Trial Advocacy-Advocate, Institute of Politics-Fellow, and is active with the legal affairs committee for the National Sheriff’s Association.  He is also a member of the National Eagle Scout Association and has served on local and national training committees for the Boy Scouts of America.

Bars, Courts, and Professional Affiliations

Mr. Mauterer is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association and is admitted to practice before all Louisiana district and appellate courts as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts.  He is also a member of the Texas State Bar.  He has also been previously admitted to practice pro hac vice in California arbitration proceedings and the U.S. Western District of Missouri.
