Pizzo and Dugas Successfully Defend Emergency Medicine Physician

May 14th, 2012

Blue Williams attorneys Stephen M. Pizzo and Kelly A. Dugas recently completed a week long jury trial before Judge Henry G. Sullivan, Jr., in the 24th Judicial District Court of Jefferson Parish. The plaintiff alleged that the defendant, an emergency medicine physician, breached the standard of care in his treatment of the plaintiff’s daughter. The plaintiff also alleged that the physician’s negligence caused or contributed to her daughter’s death. On behalf of our client, Blue Williams argued that the patient did not have any signs or symptoms of MRSA pneumonia when she presented to the emergency room and that the physician appropriately treated the patient’s symptoms. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the physician, finding that the plaintiff had failed to prove that the physician breached the standard of care in his treatment of the plaintiff’s daughter.
