Mr. Sweeney joined the Metairie office in 2013. His practice consists primarily of civil litigation, including products liability, premises liability, insurance coverage and defense, general casualty litigation, appellate practice, and administrative law.

Education

Mr. Sweeney received his bachelor of arts in political science from Louisiana State University in 1991 and his juris doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert School of Law at Louisiana State University in 1995, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and a finalist in the Robert Lee Tullis Moot Court Competition.

Narrative

Mr. Sweeney was admitted to the bar in 1995 and served as law clerk to the Honorable Charles Grisbaum, Chief Judge, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Sweeney has represented product manufacturers, premises owners, governmental entities, and insurers in defense of personal injury, wrongful death, and property damage claims in state and federal courts throughout Louisiana. With over 15 years of litigation experience, Mr. Sweeney’s experience includes all aspects of trial and appellate practice.

Mr. Sweeney also has extensive experience in administrative law, appearing on behalf of clients before a number of state and federal governmental administrative agencies. He has also represented state governmental agencies and assisted them in conducting administrative hearings and preparing administrative rules.

Mr. Sweeney is admitted to practice before all Louisiana district and appellate courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Jefferson Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association.
