Attorney Brief

Angela Wood joined Blue Williams in 2022 as a partner in the Houston office, representing individuals, businesses, and insurance carriers across Texas.  Ms. Wood graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Political Science. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she served on the Mock Trial team, representing the school at regional competitions.  She has been in practice since 2000, focusing on general civil defense litigation, including insurance defense, personal injury, premises defect, and property & casualty litigation.  Ms. Wood has successfully tried to verdict over 75 jury trials in Texas courts and is licensed to practice law in both Texas and Arizona state courts. She has been a member of the Texas Bar since 2000 and a member of the Arizona Bar since 2019. Her current practice areas are focused on general civil defense litigation, including insurance defense, automobile/trucking, personal injury, premises defect, property and casualty litigation, and some products liability. Most recently, she has become a certified mediator and arbitrator in Arizona and is working towards the same certification for the State of Texas.

Education

Ms. Wood obtained a Bachelor of Science degree, with a double-major in Criminal Justice and Political Science in 1995 from the University of North Texas.  She then went to law school at Texas Southern University where she earned her juris doctor from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2000.

Narrative

Ms. Wood was admitted to the Texas bar in 2000 and admitted to the Arizona Bar in 2019.  Upon admission to the Texas bar, she spent her early career in private practice engaged in the practice of insurance defense.  She then transitioned to in-house counsel for a major insurance carrier, where she remained for 15 years.  During that time, she was continually promoted from trial attorney and her last position involved managing all litigation the State of Arizona for the carrier.  She has given the following notable presentations, many for CLE credit:
