Elizabeth S. Sconzert

Ms. Sconzert is a partner in the Mandeville office and has been with the firm since 2009. Her practice consists primarily of medical malpractice defense, insurance defense, federal and state workers’ compensation defense, construction litigation, environmental and toxic tort litigation, personal and commercial property litigation and commercial litigation.


Ms. Sconzert received her bachelor of arts degree from Loyola University New Orleans in 2001 and her juris doctorate from Loyola University School of Law in 2005. Ms. Sconzert served as the articles and index editor for the Loyola Law Review and was an oralist and briefwriter for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Moot Arbitration team that argued in Vienna, Austria. While attending Loyola, she was the recipient of the 2005 Loyola Law Review Best Comment Award and Law Excellence awards in civil procedure, criminal law, and copyright law.


Ms. Sconzert was admitted to the bar in 2005. Upon graduation, she served as the law clerk to Chief Justice Pascal F. Calogero, Jr. of the Louisiana Supreme Court. Ms. Sconzert’s litigation experience includes commercial litigation; healthcare law, including the defense of physicians, nurses and hospitals in medical malpractice claims, insurance defense, including the interpretation of fidelity, errors and omissions, commercial general liability, and commercial property policies and surety bonds; environmental law, including oil and gas legacy site remediation, naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) exposure, and chemical exposure; occupational injury claims; construction law; employment law; workers’ compensation law; medical malpractice defense; bankruptcy and creditors’ rights. In 2013 and 2014, the American Society of Legal Advocates recognized Ms. Sconzert as one of Louisiana's "Top 40 Litigation Lawyers Under 40." She was also chosen as a New Orleans CityBusiness "One to Watch" in the publication's Law Firms focused February 2013 issue. In, addition, Ms. Sconzert has been selected by peers annually since 2014 as one of the “Rising Stars” in the field of Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice Defense by Louisiana Super Lawyers publication. In 2019 she received the Women’s Choice Award from Professional Women of St. Tammany and the Citizen Lawyer Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association.

Bars, Courts, and Professional Affiliations

Ms. Sconzert is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts and federal district and bankruptcy courts. She is a member of the Louisiana State, Federal, New Orleans and Greater Covington Bar Associations. Ms. Sconzert is currently serving as the President of the 22nd Judicial District Bar Association. Ms. Sconzert formerly served as Chair of the Young Lawyers Sections of the New Orleans Bar Association and the Greater Covington Bar Association. She actively participates in the Loyola Law Review Alumni Committee, the Young Leadership Council of New Orleans, the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Louisiana, and Habitat for Humanity. She serves as a Phi Alpha Delta regional advisor to student members in all Louisiana and Mississippi law schools and is a member of the 2010-2011 Leadership St. Tammany Class. Ms. Sconzert is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel to which she was recently elected to the Board of Directors to represent the First District. She was named a member of the Northshore Community Partnership Panel for 2017-2018. Also, in 2018 she was asked to serve on the US Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel by Chief Judge Englehardt of the Eastern District of Louisiana.
