5th Annual Juneteenth Fest 2024
Blue Williams was a proud community resource partner in the 5th Annual Juneteenth Fest which took place in New Orleans at Congo Square. Partners Kim Paul, Elizabeth Sconzert and Christopher Grace, along with associate Angela Bautista participated in the event. Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19 each year, commemorates a pivotal moment in American history. Originating in Galveston, Texas, it marks the day in 1865 when Union troops arrived with news that enslaved African Americans were finally free, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Over time, Juneteenth has evolved into a day of reflection, remembrance, and celebration of African American culture and heritage and as a poignant reminder of the struggles for freedom and equality.
