Brett Tweedel Secures a Victory for Insurance Client
On April 12th, Mr. Brett Tweedel, a partner who specializes in construction and insurance defense litigation, tried a case before Judge Richard “Chip†Moore of the 19th JDC in Baton Rouge. The trial was over an alleged car accident, wherein the plaintiff claimed our insured driver caused an accident resulting in personal injuries. Initially, Mr. Tweedel contemplated a motion for summary judgment, but unfortunately, the plaintiff had sufficient evidence, despite numerous inconsistencies uncovered during her deposition, to overcome an MSJ. Always mindful of the client’s bottom line, Mr. Tweedel initiated an attempt at reasonable settlement negotiations, which failed since the plaintiff’s demand did not fit with our assessment. As a result, we proceeded forward with trial where Mr. Tweedel presented two independent witnesses and a guest passenger of our insured driver (who was unavailable to testify), and a vigorous cross examination of the plaintiff resulted in a complete victory for our client and a “zero verdict†from the Judge. This case illustrates the aggressive representation provided by Blue Williams attorneys, such as Mr. Tweedel, in achieving excellent results for our clients. Please contact Mr. Tweedel if you have any insurance defense or construction litigation questions or concerns.Â
