Attorney Brief

Mr. Baudouin is a partner in the Metairie office and has been with the firm since 2000. His practice consists primarily of commercial and business litigation, healthcare law, class actions, insurance law, and personal/commercial property and casualty litigation. Mr. Baudouin was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1984.

Education

Mr. Baudouin received a BA in 1981 from Tulane University, where he was awarded magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors, and received his JD from Tulane University Law School in 1984. In 1993 he completed training in alternative dispute resolution through the American Arbitration Association. He is also a fellow of the Loyola University Institute of Politics.

Narrative

Mr. Baudouin’s practice is devoted to civil litigation, primarily in the areas of healthcare, banking, commercial and business litigation, and insurance law, including general casualty and credit life and disability. He has represented parties in class action litigation, including one against the manufacturer of pedicle screws and another involving ad valorem tax issues arising out of the sale of automobiles. Mr. Baudouin also defended a class action against a New Orleans hospital accused of failing to safely evacuate its patients and staff after Hurricane Katrina, and is currently defending class actions against two hospitals sued over alleged violations of the Balanced Billing Act. He has represented parties in complex construction cases involving the professional liability of engineers and architects, as well as workmanship claims against contractors and sub-contractors. He serves as Attorney Chair in Medical Review Panels requested pursuant to the Louisiana Medical Malpractice Act. Additionally, in 2015, he was named Chair of the Medical Malpractice section of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel (LADC).

Mr. Baudouin is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Louisiana. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, and Louisiana Society of Hospital Attorneys. He was also a contributing writer for the Louisiana Political Review from 1991 to 1993.
