Mr. Best is a partner in the Metairie office and joined the firm in 2014. His practice consists primarily of healthcare law, casualty and commercial litigation and insurance defense. He is licensed and practices law in Louisiana and Georgia.

Education

Mr. Best earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Louisiana State University in 1996 and a Master of Arts degree in political science from Auburn University in 1998.  Mr. Best earned his Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University College of Law in 2004. While a student at Georgia State University College of Law, Mr. Best competed and coached for the school’s American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition Team and National Moot Court Competition Team and was a regional semi-finalist in the 2003 National Moot Court Competition. Georgia State University College of Law also recognized Mr. Best with an award for outstanding achievement in its litigation skills workshop.

Narrative

Mr. Best is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and returned home to South Louisiana in 2005. Mr. Best worked for a healthcare boutique firm in New Orleans for almost nine years before joining Blue Williams. Mr. Best has first and second chaired numerous bench and jury trials in Louisiana as well as Georgia and has participated in numerous medical review panel proceedings and arbitration hearings in various jurisdictions. Mr. Best has extensive experience in healthcare regulatory and compliance proceedings, investigations, and hearings including HIPAA, Stark, Anti-Kickback, and EMTALA compliance. Mr. Best represents corporate clients, physicians and allied health professionals in credentialing and privilege hearings and professional licensure proceedings. He also represents corporate clients and small medical practice groups in formulating practice management agreements and recruiting agreements and in resolving disputes regarding same. In addition to extensive healthcare experience, Mr. Best is also experienced in class action litigation; professional errors and omissions practice; judgment recovery and debt collection; insurance defense; and landlord/ tenant and other commercial contractual dispute resolution.

Mr. Best is an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia. Mr. Best is also an active member of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and is admitted to practice before federal district courts in Louisiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
