Mr. Ellinghausen is a partner in the firm’s Metairie office. His practice primarily consists of admiralty/maritime, environmental and toxic litigation, personal/commercial property and casualty litigation. He has been a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association since 1982.
Education
Mr. Ellinghausen attended Louisiana State University from 1976 to 1979 and was on the Dean’s List all semesters. He graduated from Tulane University Law School, cum laude, in 1982.
Narrative
Mr. Ellinghausen’s practice has centered around defense of casualty claims for more than 25 years. He has handled well in excess of 200 Jones Act seaman claims, primarily for brownwater offshore supply vessel companies. Additionally, he has represented manufacturers of asbestos-containing products and employers in litigation filed by more than 10,000 claimants. He has also defended automobile claims, health insurance claims and commercial premise claims.

Mr. Ellinghausen is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Bar Association of the Federal Fifth Circuit, the American Bar Association, the New Orleans Bar Association, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, the Maritime Law Association of the United States and the Defense Research Institute. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Louisiana. He has presented cases in 35 state courts in Louisiana, all federal districts in Louisiana, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, both Houston and Galveston divisions, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
