Mr. Gatz-Miller joined Blue Williams in 2024 at the Metairie office. His practice primarily focuses on insurance defense, property and casualty litigation, and the defense of municipalities and law enforcement agencies.
Education
Mr. Gatz-Miller earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Colorado State University in 2007. In 2009, he moved to Bristol, England, where he attended the University of Bristol and earned a Master of Science Degree in International Security. His graduate studies culminated in his Master’s Dissertation titled “Contributions to Failure: A Comparative Analysis Between the Soviet and US/NATO Coalitions’ Experiences in Afghanistan.” In 2022, Mr. Gatz-Miller earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.
Narrative
A native of Portland, Oregon, Mr. Gatz-Miller now calls New Orleans home. After earning his Master of Science Degree, he moved to Montana, where he spent several years working in both national and local politics and in business development within Tax Increment Financing Districts (TIFDs). Following his time in Montana, Mr. Gatz-Miller pursued his Juris Doctor at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. There, he was a student practitioner in the Criminal Defense Clinic at the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice and was actively involved in Loyola’s Trial Advocacy Program, elected as its Chairmen his 3L year. Immediately after law school, Mr. Gatz-Miller served as Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Lowell “Chris” Hazel of the 9th Judicial District Court in Rapides Parish and then for the Honorable Michael A. Pitman and the Honorable Katherine C. Dorroh of the 1st Judicial District Court in Caddo Parish.

Mr. Gatz-Miller is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association and Shreveport Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before all Louisiana Courts, as well as United States District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
