Virgil A. Lacy, III
Attorney Brief
Mr. Lacy joined Blue Williams while a law student in 1985. He has been a partner in the firm since 1993 and has served as a managing partner and a member of the firm’s executive committee since 1998. His practice consists primarily of commercial litigation and property and casualty litigation. He has been a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association since 1987.
Education
Mr. Lacy received his bachelor of science in finance, cum laude, from Louisiana State University in 1983, where he graduated in the top seven percent of his class. Tulane University Law School awarded him the degree of juris doctor, cum laude, in 1987, where he finished in the top eleven percent of his class. At Tulane, he was a member of the Order of the Barristers and Phi Alpha Delta and served as a justice on the Tulane Moot Court Board. He also won the Tulane Moot Court Trial Competition and was a member of the Tulane National Trial Team.
Narrative
Mr. Lacy has served as lead trial counsel in a great number of cases in all three districts of the federal courts in Louisiana, as well as Louisiana state courts in a number of parishes. He has handled cases in virtually every state court in southern Louisiana and appeals in every state appellate jurisdiction and in the United States fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as the Louisiana Supreme Court. Mr. Lacy’s defense practice involves a diverse array of cases in all Louisiana state and federal courts, spanning the insurance defense and self-insured litigation arenas. He actively handles cases involving claims arising from commercial litigation and business disputes in corporate and partnership settings, as well as premises liability, construction, product liability, auto and trucking liability, uninsured motorist and general casualty matters.

Mr. Lacy is a member of the American Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the New Orleans Bar Association and the Jefferson Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Louisiana and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
