Thomas “Tom” Buck has more than 40 years of experience defending clients in property damage, personal injury, construction, insurance, and professional liability disputes. His practice includes homeowners and commercial general liability claims, insurance coverage and bad-faith matters, construction defects, products liability, automobile and trucking accidents, premises security, employment disputes, and housing-related litigation.
Tom works with insurance carriers, claims professionals, businesses, homeowners, and other insureds to evaluate liability and coverage, investigate claims, and develop practical litigation strategies. His experience handling both the underlying liability case and related coverage questions allows him to help clients understand how decisions in one part of a matter may affect the broader claim.
Before attending law school, Tom worked as an inspector at the Waterford III Nuclear Power Plant. That experience gives him a practical perspective when handling construction, technical, and property-related disputes.
Tom began his career with Blue Williams as a law clerk in 1983 and has remained with the firm throughout his legal career. He currently serves as Of Counsel in the firm’s New Orleans office.

Narrative
Tom maintains a broad civil defense and trial practice focused on insurance, construction, professional liability, property damage, and personal injury litigation. He represents homeowners, businesses, insurers, property owners, and other clients in Louisiana state and federal courts.
A central part of Tom’s practice involves insurance coverage. He advises clients on policy interpretation, defense and indemnity obligations, exclusions, reservation-of-rights issues, and allegations of bad-faith claims handling. His experience encompasses homeowners, commercial general liability, automobile, and other liability policies.
Tom also defends construction defect claims involving contractors, property owners, design and workmanship issues, and alleged resulting property damage. His prior work as a nuclear power plant inspector provides practical familiarity with technical investigations, construction processes, and the importance of contemporaneous project documentation.
His casualty practice includes premises liability and security claims, automobile and commercial trucking accidents, products liability, defamation, and other personal injury matters. Tom has also handled employment, housing, and highly sensitive misconduct claims.
Tom served as president of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel in 2012–2013, reflecting his longstanding leadership within Louisiana’s civil defense bar.

Mr. Buck is a member of the New Orleans Bar Association, the Jefferson Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. He formerly served as the LADC's president. Mr. Buck practices before all Louisiana state and federal courts.
