Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement
Blue Williams holds diversity and inclusiveness as core values of our firm. Our objective is to create and maintain diversity in our workplace. We seek to foster understanding, acceptance, and inclusiveness firm-wide and in our communities regarding race, gender, sexual orientation, religion and economic diversity. We respect and support our clients’ activities that further a commitment to diversity in each of these areas. Blue Williams is committed to creating a workforce that reflects the diversity of our society, enriching us with multiple perspectives and experiences that enhance both our strategies for our clients and our contributions to the legal profession as well as the greater community.
DIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE
The Diversity and Community Action Committee is comprised of partners, associates, and staff who identify inclusion and diversity strengths, issues, and opportunities at all levels within the firm; develop strategies and plans to examine ways in which the firm can provide equal opportunities in employment, promotion and retention to all qualified persons; examine the effectiveness and ability to meet the needs of the firms’ diverse members; and celebrate and document the successes of inclusive approaches. The Committee also identifies community outreach opportunities for its members to participate in through pro bono representation and other means of volunteerism.
CONCLAVE ON DIVERSITY
Blue Williams has sponsored the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Conclave on Diversity in the Legal Profession for many years. The purpose of the conclave is to encourage discussion among judges and attorneys about the importance of diversity within the legal profession and how to improve diversity within the profession in Louisiana. Our attorneys attend the Conclave to be a part of this vital discussion and bring back actionable ideas to our own Diversity and Community Action Committee.
