About Travis D.S. Cox

Travis Cox is a partner in Blue Williams' Houston office, where he represents businesses and individuals in litigation, corporate, and transactional matters throughout Texas. His practice spans a wide range of industries, including real estate, construction, energy, petrochemical, oilfield and industrial services, manufacturing, and healthcare.

Cox has served as first-chair attorney on numerous matters and is formally trained as a civil mediator, allowing him to guide clients through alternative dispute resolution when litigation isn't the most practical or cost-effective path forward. He is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts and federal district courts.

Notable Representative Matters

• First-chair trial defense of a multinational company in a construction contract dispute, resulting in a favorable judgment

• $1.75 million judgment obtained on behalf of a real estate investment company against a secured transaction debtor

• Summary judgment piercing the corporate veil, securing full damages and attorney fees for real estate investors

• Complete dismissal of a four-year-old case against a multinational energy company in the Permian Basin, achieved within three months of taking the case

• $1.3+ million judgment against a general contractor in a hospital construction dispute

• Multimillion-dollar arbitration experience involving breaches of fiduciary duty, fraud, and corporate opportunity claims in the ecommerce and transportation sectors

Education & Background

Cox earned his J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law (2017), where he was a Dean's Scholar and served as article editor for the International Law Review Association. He earned his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin through the Plan II Honors Program. Before joining Blue Williams, he trained with in-house legal counsel, private practices, and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Texas, working on cases involving fraud, kickbacks, and personal injury defense.

Cox has also been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star (2024–present) and a Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch honoree (2025–present). He is active with the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Young Lawyers Association Leadership Academy, the Defense Research Institute, and the Institute for Energy Law.
